Great Hudson River Paddle
June 28 through July 7

For ten days beginning in Albany on June 28 and ending in New York City on July 7, a group of thirty thru-paddlers and six guides will paddle 128 miles of the Hudson River camping each night at prearranged sites along the way.

River front festivals will be held in the afternoon and evening at each stopping point. Some of the planned events include on water kayak and canoe trials, concerts and performances, tours of historic homes, lighthouses, and museums, and exhibits by the Hudson Water Trail Association and Hudson River Valley Greenway. The Clearwater will be available for tours in Saugerties on June 30th.

The Great Hudson River Paddle is being held under the auspices of the Hudson River Watertrail Association, Inc., a nonprofit corporation founded in 1992 to promote and develop a continuous water trail from New York City to the Erie Canal, and is being held to celebrate the Hudson River Greenway Water Trail, dedicated to the improvement of public access to the Hudson River.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), through its Hudson River Estuary Management and Public Affairs Programs, has been a major funding and technical assistance sponsor of the Great Hudson River Paddle since its inception. The Hudson River Estuary Management Program is a unique regional partnership designed to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance the Hudson River estuary.
