Peekskill Celebration

The Half Moon replica will take part in the Peekskill Celebration, a waterfront festival featuring family oriented entertainment and more than 40 events, including concerts, arts & crafts, environmental & educational exhibits, carnival rides, kids fun tent, kayaking, Hudson River excursions, historical encampments and demonstrations, and a spectacular fireworks display. The Half Moon will be moored in the bay during the weekend with the crew on shore in special 17th century encampment. Activities at the encampment will include musketry drills, canon firings, games & activities from the 1600's and more. Many of the activities will be hands on and visitors will be able to talk with the reenactors and try their hand at some of the activities. Schedule for Saturday, August 3

Peekskill Celebration Voyage of Discovery - July 29 to August 2
The Voyage of Discovery is open to 6th - 8th grade students (ages 11-14) who reside or attend school in a Cablevision service area of Peekskill, Cortlandt, Yorktown or Putnam Valley. Each applicant is on a team of 6 students and 1 adult advisor, and each team must submit a video project on either the Hudson River or Henry Hudson’s ship, the Half Moon. (Deadline to apply was May 21st.) Projects will be judged by a panel of 3 made up of Peekskill Celebration 2002 members and a representative from the Half Moon. All projects will be displayed during the Peekskill Celebration weekend event. Two teams, including their adult supervisor, will be chosen as winners and will sail and function as the crew aboard the Half Moon. Winners will assist with tours of the Half Moon and describe their experiences during the Peekskill Festival.
