Maritime Museum Opens for the Season
May 4 and 5, 11 am to 5 pm

21st Annual Kingston Shad Festival

The Hudson River Maritime Museums launches the 2002 season on the weekend of May 4 and 5 with the 21st annual Kingston Shad Festival. Fresh shad and shad roe dinners prepared by the Gourmet Society of the Culinary Institute of America will be available. The schooner Mystic Whaler will be available for tours and sails at the Museum during the shad festival. Regularly scheduled boat trips to the historic Rondout Lighthouse and the opening of the Museum's 2002 exhibit also begin this weekend. The Museum is open 11 am to 5 pm.
Shad21st Annual Kingston Shad Festival
The Hudson River Maritime Museum will host the 21st annual Kingston Shad Festival to celebrate the return of the shad to the Hudson River. Fresh shad and shad roe dinners prepared by the Gourmet Society of the Culinary Institute of America will be available. Live music, demonstrations, educational exhibits, craft and food vendors are part of the festival.
Mystic WhalerSchooner Mystic Whaler at the Museum
The Mystic Whaler will be docked at the Museum and available for onboard tours and sails. These sails are offered by the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. Reservations may be made by calling the Clearwater Sail Coordinator at (845) 454-7673. If tickets remain available at the time of each sail, they may be purchased at the dock.

LighthouseBoat Trips to the Rondout Lighthouse Begin
The lighthouse is located on the Hudson River at the mouth of Rondout Creek, a short boat trip from the museum. Access to the lighthouse is provided by the museum's motor launch Indy, which operates on a regular schedule during the summer months.

The lighthouse is open for visits from May through June on Saturdays & Sundays from noon till 4 pm July through October the lighthouse is open daily from noon till 4 PM Boat launch departs the Museum daily at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 PM during July & August, weekends and holidays only in May, June and September.

steamboatThe Museum's 2002 Exhibit Opens
"350 Years of Hudson River Maritime History" As part of Kingston's 350th Anniversary Celebration, the Hudson River Maritime Museum's 2002 exhibit will feature the maritime history of the Hudson River. The exhibit opens on May 4th and continues until Oct. 20th, and is open from 11 am to 5 PM during the season.
Admission: Adults, $3.00; Children 6 to 12, $1.00; Children 5 and under, free; Boat rides to the historic Rondout Lighthouse, $4.00; Shad Dinners $8.00
