Come join the schooner Mystic Whaler and staff from Clearwater for a day of scenic sailing in the Hudson River Highlands. You can cruise the Hudson River's most famous landscape, with river experts, a delicious lunch, and lots of tallship sailing adventure.
The peaks of Storm King and Bear Mountain presided over crucial moments
in our history, including the early struggles of the Revolutionary War,
the advancement of the Hudson River School of painting, and many milestones
of the modern environmental movement. The natural and
physical history of the region is equally fascinating, from restored marshlands
to the deepest realms of the Hudson River. The area is rich with stories,
from Native American legends to fantastic creatures in the Hudsons
deepest reaches.
Carved by glaciers and containing the deepest reaches of the Hudson River, the Highlands between Bear Mountain and Storm King are rich in history, mythology, and environmental beauty. Historians from West Point Military Academy and educators from Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will be on board to answer questions and point out interesting sites. A three-course lunch and musical guests will be a treat for mind and body.
The Mystic Whaler -- of Mystic, Connecticut-- joins the Clearwater each spring to provide educational programs to thousands of Hudson Valley students and citizens. Captain John Eginton and crew are experts in both sailing and hospitality. The Mystic Whaler is a traditionally rigged 110-foot schooner.
