Your help is needed the weekend of April 5 and 6, rain or shine, aboard the replica ship Half Moon. Help will be needed both Saturday, April 5, and Sunday April 6. Please be at the ship by 8:30 AM Saturday morning and be prepared to stay until 3:30 PM; if you come on Sunday, please arrive by 9:00 AM and be prepared to stay until 1:00 PM Those who can stay both days are welcome to sleep aboard the ship; if you plan to do this, bring a sleeping bag and foam pad.
Winter has come and gone, and it is time to move the ship from its winter berth to its spring berth. We will operate the ship for about an hour to accomplish this, with a brief window of opportunity at slack water Saturday and Sunday morning.
If you have never been aboard, this is a great time to get an easy introduction; if you are an old hand, it is a great time to renew your skills. In addition to other activities, we will provide training for new crew and an annual refresher for returning crew in use of harness and work aloft. This is mandatory for anyone who wishes to climb the rigging. Of course, it is not necessary to climb the rigging, and those who do not will have plenty of opportunity to contribute to the ship in many other ways.
Anyone of any skill level is welcome, regardless of whether you have ever been aboard the Half Moon. Orientation and training will be provided. If you have carpentry, painting, electrical, or Diesel engine experience, special projects await you!
RSVP by e-mail to JayPocius@PeoplePC.com.

From the North: If you are coming from the North, get on Route 9 heading south, go through Peekskill, take the exit for Buchanan. At the foot of the exit you can look ahead past the Westchester Diner to a railroad overpass. Go under the overpass and take the next right turn at the light; go to the next light and turn left; go about a mile to the second light in Verplanck and turn right. You will see the Hudson River straight ahead; you will see the entrance to King Marine marked by a small white sign on the left through the wooden fence. Please take care, respect the property and proceed to the ship.
From the South: If you are coming from the south, get on Route 9 heading north from Croton; exit at Montrose, and get on Route 9A north (turn left). Go north a couple of miles, passing the Veteran's Hospital. Turn left on King's Ferry Road (three way intersection with a traffic light, and a volunteer fire station and deli on the corner). At the first light bear to the right, at second light bear left. Continue west on King's Ferry Road past Lake Meagh, through two more traffic lights. After you pass the second light, go a short distance and you will see the Hudson River straight ahead; you will see the entrance to King Marine marked by a small white sign on the left through the wooden fence. Please take care, respect the property and proceed to the ship.
